The present Foder Point company
was founded in 1986 on the initiative of the brothers Elmo and Gian
Paolo Gallucci, who already worked in the field, having inherited
their father Gerardo's business, which had been on the leather market
since 1956.
 |
The company began importing pigskin crust leathers
from Asian countries, and decided to distinguish itself from
competitors by focussing on quality by means of the total control
of the product. In fact, the most delicate processing stages
are carried out within the company itself (quality selection,
colour shade matching, measuring, etc.), in order to obtain
a product of a high quality standard. This, together with an
efficient sales network composed of competent collaborators
and prompt delivery, has allowed Foder Point to expand in Italy
and abroad. |
To make its mark with even more distinction, after years of study
and research in collaboration with the Enea
[the New Technologies, Energy and Environment Board], the new ecological
article Greenpell (wet white
tanning) was developed. In 1999, an important national convention
was held at Monte Urano, entitled: "Calzatura, salute e ambiente"
[Footwear, health and the environment], attended by the major experts
and scholars of the sector as well as certain personalities of the
national and regional political world. In 2004, in order to sustain
constant development, Foder Point
moved to its new industrial premises, increased its internal staff,
and considerably augmented its warehoused stocks in order to be
able to satisfy any kind of request. Today both small firms and
the large footwear industry choose Foder Point because they are
guaranteed: QUALITY, QUANTITY AND
CONFORMITY.
| QUALITY |
|
| The raw material is inspected
at the tanneries of the countries of origin either by the owners
themselves or by their right hand men. When the leathers are
delivered, they are then subjected to the delicate work phases,
carried out by specialist internal staff who select each single
skin on the basis of colour, thickness and quality, as well
as size and packaging. Thanks to the continual and constant
control of all work phases, Foder Point is able to offer its
clientele a product of a high quality standard that will eliminate
the typical problems of shoe manufacturers who move their own
production abroad avoiding sales returns of goods which often
cause customs problems and costly production stoppages. |
 |
| QUANTITY |
|
| The selected leathers
are re-measured in the company warehouse with modern electronic
measuring machines to protect the customer from any shortage
in original footage. Average quantities of every colour (about
twenty different colours are available) in stock are more than
sufficient to satisfy any immediate delivery requests, even
for large quantities. |
 |
| CONFORMITY |
|
| Aware of the growing request
for leathers treated without the use of harmful substances,
Foder Point was one of the first companies to "certify" its
product. Our supplies are subjected to preventive analyses at
TÜV laboratories in China in order to be able to check for the
presence of harmful substances such as chrome VI, pentachlorophenol,
formaldehyde, azo dyes, etc. Foder Point then sees that counter-analysis
is carried out at qualified and accredited Italian and German
laboratories to ascertain that the skins respect the limits
established by European directives. Once all the checks have
been passed a declaration of conformity is issued to those customers
who request one. |
