HOW GREENPELL BEGAN
Following the growing request for leathers that have been treated without the use of toxic substances and after years of study and constantly improving technologies, a new system of ecological tanning has finally arrived, called wet whiteor white tanning, that uses organic substances instead of chrome: a clean productive process obtained thanks to a careful manufacture that fully respects the environment. In fact, both the production waste and the finished leather are biodegradable. This ecological procedure, as well as respecting the pentachlorophenol (PCP) limits and aromatic amines limits set in the Decree of staple goods of the Federal Republic of Germany, guarantees, in every phase of working on leathers, the non-use of heavy metals, such as chrome, lead, cadmium, arsenic, etc. that, if employed in high concentrations, are noxious to mans healt, and cause strong pollution. So an absolutely natural product and free from harmful pesticidal substances is obtained that, due to its noticeable softness, meets no difficulty in being subjected to any kind of solicitation necessary for the different types of employment within the footwear industry. This new line is marked by the trade-mark Greenpell®, synonymus with ecology and healt, and can be reasonably considered as the first genuine ecological leather, and thus represents the big innovation in this field. |
