THE CHARACTERISTICS OF GREENPELL

Thanks to the new tanning process used to produce it, Greenpell hides become uniquely and extraordinarily natural and soft; this means that there are no problems in resisting the strains imposed in the various uses in the footwear sector. As well as conforming to the limits for pentaclorophenol (PCP) and aromatic amines set by the "Decree on Commodities" of the German Federal Republic, the new "wet white" tanning system guarantees that HEAVY METALS ARE NOT USED at any stage of the production. Used in high concentrations, these heavy metals, such as chrome, lead, cadmium, arsenic etc., are extremely polluting and harmful to human health. Greenpell linings can thus offer maximum transpiration and a higher sweat absorption capacity than a normal chrome-tanned hide, and consequently much greater comfort than usual. Another factor in this is the pH level which is close to that of the skin of the feet.
